Synthetic and cloned Vehicle Identification Numbers pass every checksum and decode into a genuine make, model, and year, for cars that were never built. Vinify tells you which vehicles are real, before you write the policy or pay the claim.
The problem
A VIN’s check digit proves the math of the number, never whether the car behind it was ever manufactured. That gap is where fraud lives.
A checksum-valid VIN is invented for a vehicle that does not exist, then insured or claimed against. Every standard decoder confirms it as a real make and model.
A genuine VIN is copied onto a second, often stolen, vehicle. Both appear legitimate in isolation. The conflict only shows when you look across the market.
Coverage is written and claims are paid on vehicles that were never built. Conventional checks describe the VIN; they never confirm the vehicle is real.
What Vinify does
Was this vehicle genuinely built, and is this identity being used on more than one car? Vinify resolves both into a verdict your team can stand behind.
Confirms whether the exact vehicle behind a VIN was actually manufactured. It is the signal no decoder can give. This is the core of catching a synthetic identity.
Surfaces when a single VIN is present in more than one place at once, the tell of a re-VINed or cloned vehicle that looks clean on its own.
Every result is Verified, Review, or Flagged, with a plain-language rationale and a signed, retained record suited to a regulated file.
A legitimate customer is never wrongly accused. Anything uncertain returns for review, never as fraud, so the worst case is “take a second look,” not a false alarm.
The guarantee that matters
In a regulated market, a false fraud flag is the worst possible outcome. Vinify only ever flags a vehicle on positive proof. Everything ambiguous is returned for review, so a genuine policyholder is protected by the same system that catches the fraud.
Who it’s for
Vinify fits into underwriting and claims where a wrong call is expensive in both directions: a missed fraud or a wronged customer.
Access
Vinify is not a public product, and it will not be sold openly. Access is granted only to verified organizations with a legitimate use case. That restriction is a feature of how the platform is trusted, not a limitation.
We verify you first. Credentials and organization are confirmed before any access is issued.
A real use case matters. Access is scoped to legitimate underwriting, claims, and fraud work.
